The Crazy Season

I am just starting to feel like I'm getting the house sorted for baby #2 (due 6 April 2011!)
We (hubby & I) need to clear out our office, to make it the 3rd bedroom. Our office is just jam-packed with rubbish. I have slowly been sorting it out and boxing things up that we don't need to have out, but that we can't bare to get rid of.
But last night and today, almost real progress is getting made. We have moved all the computer bits into our bedroom, on a 'new' second hand desk. Which makes our room seem half the size, but it's quite cosy, as long as we hang our clothes up each night! haha
Hubby told me I have to take the Christmas tree down right away if we are going to sort the overloaded office out. We have about 10 plastic storage containers in there at the moment, and the Christmas boxes need to be put back into the shed first, therefore the tree and decorations have to go.
But I can now see light at the end of the tunnel, finally! Soon all the office will be packed down into boxes and can all be put outside, once we buy another shed. Yep, we do need to buy another shed. But at least if all the boxes are packed, moving them is easy peasy japanesy.

I'm also freaking out, there is a baby, and nothing is going to stop it from coming out... And my other child, the first born, will still be living here. With a first child I had no idea how hard it was going to be... but now that I know how hard a baby is, I don't know if I can do it with a little toddler too!
How is it that we are allowed to get pregnant when we already have a child in the house!?

Christmas Eve Eve

I went and did my final grocery shop today, before Christmas, hopefully I remembered everything. Although I am now thinking I should have bought this and that... maybe I'll get the hubby to go on his way home from work to pick some more things up. But I didn't want to go tomorrow, as there will be so many crazy last minute shoppers! Even today people were rude and inconsiderate, not like the normal Countdown Supermarket crowd.

Recently I've been wondering about life and comparing my life to others. I always think I have it so bad. But then I hear other stories, on the news, or thru friends and I have to come to terms with the fact that my life is what it is, and I should make the most of it. I have a house, a semi-decent husband, and 1.5kids (I'm still undecided if this is good or bad, but I do know that I really wanted kids before I had them, and plenty of people, without kids, who would probably happily have my kid). I still wish I had it better, and I hope that one day me or husband win lotto or get a massive payout from somewhere so we can get the house we want. Money isn't everything, but it would sure help out a whole lot!

Christmas Time Mistletoe & Non Alcholic Wine

*sigh*
So much to do. I still have Christmas Cards to write. I have dramatically cut down my list this year. Although, at this rate, no one will get a card this year!

This morning I went to the shops to get a few things from the supermarket and some last minute Christmas present shopping. I was out for ages! It was so busy! Normally you can walk fast around the mall... but not now, there are people with kids wandering slowly, old men using trolleys to hobble around with, and stupid people in the middle of the aisles trying to stop you and sell you their stuff!
Then I foolishly went to Pak N Save for my quick supermarket shop... I'd forgotten how people who shop their have NO TROLLEY COURTESY! so I kept getting stuck. Also, this particualy Pak N Save has changed their entrance, so you walk thru the store backwards... which totally threw me. So I got milk first, and my apples last. Not to mention I didn't know where anything else was.

At least the weather is lovely and I'm home in one piece!
Baby is kicking around lots, I love feeling her/him move about :)

Kicking & Swimming

I've had a busy few weekends, cleaning up a rental property that was DISGUSTING!! So I've been getting home and being TIRED. So this morning I woke up, sort of, and Isaac was grumpy, I was dreading a day at home, so when a friend text me and said "Lets go to the park this morning" I was all IN! It wore Isaac out, and he had an excellent sleep.

Then this afternoon, We went over to Nan's house and had a 'swim'. It was 26degrees Celsius. Which in my head was hot enough, but when I actually got to getting in, it was a bit cold. But we were already dressed and ready for a swim, so we did get in!
Isaac thought it was too cold, and wanted out (see pic above of him crawling away fast). He still had fun running around and playing with water in a bowl on the deck.

And on another note, I can feel baby #2 kicking lots now, and this morning I SAW my baby bump moving! So I think hubby should be able to feel it now, but he doesn't have the patience to keep his hand there for more than 30seconds.

Cleaning Stinks

So, Me and Hubby have a rental property, we went halves with my parents about a year ago. And last week our tenant moved out... We let her tenancy agreement run out and didn't renew it. She was loud, we had trouble getting rent off her, the neighbours hated her etc etc.
So on Sunday we all went there to clean up. While we were there we talked to 3 of the neighbours, 2 were so glad she was gone and hoped we found a better tenant this time. the other neighbour, who borders the property where we will be putting up a new nice fence were pissed off that we cut down some rotten trees (a year ago), and won't go halves on the new fence, or contribute towards it, "there was nothing wrong with the old fence" that just fell over as we were trying to remove it! and they have just had enough of it all! Feeling all sorry for themselves, we might just get annoying tenants to keep pissing them off!

Isaac was always tripping over holes in the long long grass, that the tenant NEVER mowed. We found condom wrappers, undies, broken glass, cigarette butts, food scraps, Isaac loved playing with the chicken bones.

We also found all this skirting board under the house, so we will be selling that on trade me, and hopefully make a small fortune.

We found this wasps nest under the gib in the garage (we removed all the gib). Luckily it was all dead and there were no wasps in it.

Freezer is FULL

Over the weekend I decided it was time to get organised! So I cooked some meals to freeze for lazy nights. I cooked: 4 Cottage Pies, 4 Lasagne's, 4 Mac Cheese, 2 Apple Crumbles. It was a very busy, messy weekend in the kitchen.
Now my freezer is FULL and there is no room for anything else. It makes getting the peas out the back very difficult.

Today hubby & I think that Isaac has hay fever! oh the joys! He had puffy runny eyes, and his nose was SO runny, I had to wipe it every 2minutes, and if I didn't, it got wiped on the sofa or my trousers. If it hasn't settled down by tomorrow I'm off to the chemist to get him some antihistamines.

Wooden Floors

I HATE vacuuming, but Isaac hates it even more, therefore it rarely gets done. The thing though, with wooden floors, is that the dust just gathers in big clumps around the edges of the rooms, or under cabinets.
So every time Isaac goes under the TV cabinet to get his 'lost' toys out, he pulls out a clump of dust, which i put in the bin... OK, fine, maybe sometimes I just shove it back under the cabinet.
So as well as having my goal of blogging once a week, perhaps I'll try and vacuum once a week too (not just when I have VIP guests over).

Babies, Gardens & More

Well, it's been nearly a month!? What happened to me?
I'm not sure why, but I've kinda lost my interest in the internet, just ask my MSN buddy! It's not that I'm doing anything more constructive with my days, I just literally sit on my ass and do NOTHING now :)
Although, I am now making a baby, which is hard work everyday. Baby is due on 6 April, one month before my toddler turns 2. We didn't time it very well, but we did think it would take a few months longer to get pregnant. 3 months of trying wasn't much, especially when it took us over 2 years, and a miscarriage, to get Isaac.
I'm looking forward to the labour, as I know now that's the easy part. And the labour had better go as well as last time, or I'll be a bit annoyed.
Also in the last month I planted a few veges in some planters (photo above). I have tomatoes, which are thriving, strawberries and capsicums. Can you believe that ONE teeny tiny capsicum is $3 at the supermarket?! Who in their right minds would buy that?! I have resorted to buying the ones in jars.
I still have a bit of replanting to do with them, and need to buy some mesh so the birds don't eat my berries. And I have to keep an eye on Isaac, already he has tried to pull the plants apart, and I suspect in a few months he'll be pulling fruit/veges off before they are ready. Ahh, the joys of parenthood.
To feel more productive, and now that I think morning sickness is subsiding, I am going to blog once a week with a photo, or maybe two photos! See you next week.

Just for Nikki Noo Noo Too!!

So it's been a while and 'everyone' is missing me (I wish!).
A few weeks ago I decided I needed a change... my hair was getting longer and longer and rattier, I can't even remember the last time I had it cut. I have the BEST step-mother-in-law, who used to be a hairdresser, me and hubby get her to cut our hair. So in the weekend we went over and she cut all my hair off.
It's so much lighter, but still long enough I can JUST tie it back, and the best thing is, Isaac doesn't appear to want to yank on it anymore, so I'll be wearing my hair down more now.
It will take a couple of days to realise to use less shampoo/conditioner and hair product though... I went overboard this morning because I forgot I had half as much hair hehe
I'm going to go to bed early tonight I think, I hope. I'm about to go and have a cheese & ham toasted sandwich for dinner! YUMMY

It's been a while

I'm not sure why I'm so unmotivated to blog... But I am.
Maybe I think I have nothing to write about?
Maybe I actually don't have anything to say!

It's my (and hubby's) 6 year wedding anniversary tomorrow! So I made him book a hotel in town, which he actually did! So we are having a day out tomorrow, CHILDFREE!
We'll start with Lunch at a friends, then a movie, then dinner! Something we never get to do, well, we do movies and dinner, its just always on our own sofa, which is nicely moulded to our butts.

I am a bit worried it will take us 4hrs to get into town though, as the Newmarket overpass is all closed and there is going to be Auckland traffic chaos like never before! I'd better take a book and a camera and lots of food supplies!

PS I'm allowed Chocolate and ice cream again now! YAY! (actually, I kinda gave up on the 'no ice cream' a while ago, but still did no chocolate) So I just had a chunk of chocolate while watching New Zealands Next Top Model.

Domestic Queen

The other day a friend of mine told me she had just eaten pikelets! I haven't had pikelets in years! So I got off my butt and baked some for dessert that night.
I also baked cheese & ham scones, but I ate them too fast and didn't have a chance to take photos of them. I've never made scones, and this recipe only made 6 small sized ones, so I'll double the recipe next time. They came out beautifully though.
Now that I have the baking down, I need to master the cleaning the house thing, like cleaning the toilet, vacuuming, making the beds, dusting the tv, doing the washing before I need to wear it again.

Car Washing really is pointless

On Monday, I worked a half day at hubby's work, so Nana had Isaac. But after work, instead of going and seeing my son, I decided to go home and sort the house out. I vacuumed; A rare occurrence as Isaac is terrified of the thing! Then I washed my car... I have had my car about 14 months now and I think I have only been thru 2 drive thru car washes in that time. It was FILTHY! I washed it and came inside and got ready to go out to pick up Isaac. By the time I got outside to leave, the cats had walked thru the muddy water and jumped all over my bonnet! ARGH! and then to top things off, I drove over our grass (oopsy) and got stuck, so it now looks like I took my car to do donuts behind Mt Wellington Repco! Not that I know anyone who used to do that 10 years ago ;)
So that mud will be there for another 6 months I reckon.

Too Quick for my own good

So... I was meant to be working at my ex-work for 5 full days over last week and this week. As turns out, me & the other girl, were way too efficient, and we finished it in 3 days! So unfortunately I only got 20hours work out of it, instead of 40.
What I/we were working on is a 'Dummy', which is basically the layout of a huge directory with adverts in it. It's very manual, literally cutting and cellotaping things in order on the pages. I quite like doing it, it makes a change from doing stuff on the computer. And we were in a spare office, just us 2, we spent a lot of time giggling and chatting and gossipping, so it really was a wonder how we got it done so fast! We are just too good ;)

The downside of working was the rush hour traffic! Isaac was in the car with me this particular day, as I had just picked him up from Nana's. He wasn't happy to be in a slow moving or stopped car!

Working

I did my second day at my ex-work today, and it was just as good as the first. I am going in again tomorrow, but that'll probably be my last day, as I am so fast and efficient :)
My mother-in-law is looking after Isaac today and tomorrow, so he is spending the night there tonight. It's a bummer I have to get up early tomorrow to go to work. But I'm sure we'll do another sleepover during a weekend so I can get a sleep in. I was a bit worried, as it turns out the car seat she installed was not correct. At least it is in properly now so Isaac won't die in a car crash anymore.
Isaac's eyelid has a cyst under it apparently, but it is clearing up really well with the anti-biotics. It's quite funny actually, yesterday I poured out his medicine at the table, where he was eating lunch, and I put the medicine bottle on the table while I gave him the spoonful of it, and then he pointed at the bottle... He wanted more! haha. They must put loads of sugar or something in it. At least he drinks it and doesn't spew it out.

Lazy! Time to get back on track

I've been holiday in Melbourne, well, I say 'holiday' but really it's harder work than being home since I had a toddler!
I've been back nearly a week now, and I still can't get motivated to blog.
I am working part time this week, and maybe next week, at my ex-work. I loved my first day there yesterday, it's good to talk to adults and have a good gossip session etc etc.
The downside was that my hubby looked after Isaac yesterday while I worked... Isaac had a swollen eye and hubby didn't bother to take him to the doctor, So when Isaac woke up this morning, it was all bloody puss. (I mean 'bloody' as in blood, not as in the swear word). So I took him to the doctor this morning and got antibiotics. But now I have to worry about his 'babysitter' giving it to him for the next 2 days while I'm at work, as if I wasn't worried enough about someone else looking after my precious and sick son.
I might as well confess, I ate some chocolate in Melbourne, I decided the 'no chocolate & no ice cream' rule only applied in New Zealand :) I didn't go crazy, just 1/3 of a King block or chocolate total. There is under 1 month left, so on 1 Sept I can eat Chocolate & Ice Cream again.
I hope to keep blogging regularly, I hear that 1 of you is missing it :P

Stressful Times

I started today with a shower, then a bowl of yoghurt while feeding Isaac his Weetbix (he can do 2!). Then I had coffee with my friend and her son (4 days younger than Isaac - that's how and why we met). Then I dropped Isaac at Nan's and I've been spending all afternoon packing, re-packing, sorting things out ready to go on holiday! It's so difficult, especially when hubby has some things he needs packing that he decided would be a good idea to leave at work until the night before we leave!
The other problem is that Isaac will need toys on the plane... How many? will he sleep? will he be entertained by these few toys I have packed? My carry on bag is FULL of toys and food for him. There is no room for anything else, like passports, wallets, nappies, wipes, spare clothes in case he spews all over me and him. I thought I had it all sorted, but apparently toddlers need a lot more than I anticipated.
Even our suitcases are full of toys, portacot, portable high chair and the list goes on and on.
I only wanted to have 2 suitcases and 2 carry on bags... I think we will end up with 3 checked in bags and 3 carry on bags, plus a carry on kid. I hope he is happy to walk and pull along his own suitcase.

Day 17 Photo - Dungarees

Today I made my Mum come over and help me make some waterproof dungarees for Isaac. I had cut out the pattern and fabric, but then I got totally overwhelmed by the instructions on how to sew it together. Thank goodness for Mums! She showed me what to sew, and I sewed most of it. And I did all the finishing touches. It's slightly tight but I might extend the straps, or I might not haha. I was just so glad to get them finished before Winter! And I saved about $30.

Day 14, 15 & 16 - Toys, Sky and Randomness!

This weeks Friday challenge:
"1. A Duck
2. A Teaspoon/s
3. A Shoe/Foot
4. A Ball/Bead/round object
5. A Flower

Now with these I want you to be original and creative, thinking outside of the box. Instead of taking a pic of a Teaspoon sitting on a bench why not tie some to a tree..."

So I thought I'd take an unoriginal photo setting, but take out the 'shoe' and replace it with a 'duck' etc etc.
And here is the result:

Day 11, 12, & 13. Sewing and Craft

Tranquility

Emotion: Confusion "How do I get in my room?"

Colour: Blue - Fabric Scraps

I've been too busy/lazy to post on here for a few days... So here are the last 3 pics. This weeks theme is "Colours", I like that better than "Emotions" from last week.
Today I finally got around to cutting out Isaac's waterproof dungaree pattern and the fabric. I need to get some help from my Mum now to sew them... or how to assemble them, I don't want to stuff it up, but I think it'll be pretty easy once I get the hang of it. I saw some waterproof dungarees online 2 days ago, and they were about $45!!! If these go well, they will have only cost me about $15. That gives me $30 to spend on other stuff I don't need.

Day 10 Photo - Sick but Content Baby

This morning when Isaac woke up, he was still so sleepy. He can't have slept very well; he coughed a lot during the night. So I got 1 hour of nice cuddles from him this morning. Ya know, when they snuggle their head into your shoulder/neck, awwww so cute. It's one of the few times my heart has actually melted. I felt so sorry for him, but at the same time I was so happy I got that special time with him.
So since Isaac was so clingy today, I managed to get this photo of Isaac and Daddy having cuddles, so cute. I had to crop Daddy out of the shot, he won't give me permission to put any of his photos anywhere on the Internet, he's such a Diva.
I bought some waterproof fabric today to make Isaac some overalls to keep him clean and dry when we are outside in the rain and puddles! So I just have to make them now, hopefully my Mum will help me this week before Winter is over.

Day 9 Photos - Friday Five Week 2

This weeks Friday Five:
1. Something you Created
2. Something Old
3. Something Wet
4. Something you want to eat
5. Something close up

What I really wanted to eat is chocolate, but I have none in the house, as its contraband at the moment, until 1 Sept!! It's hard work. BUT, secretly, I did have a piece of Chocolate Birthday Cake today. And I did always say from the start, that it would be OK to have something like that on a special occasion, and I think Birthdays are very special, even if it is for a naughty sister-in-law :P
Isaac Update: He seemed a bit better today, his nose was running more, and his appetite was slightly better. And nothing yuck from his bum or mouth! I'm convinced it's a cold brought on by teething. So no doctor yet. But I self diagnosed him with google, so I've stopped looking at Google (thanks Angela). We had a nice quiet day at home, I even cancelled going to my much anticipated coffee meet up with mums from my ex-work.

Day 8 Photo - Fun Times

Even though I didn't want heaps of Isaac themed 'Emotion' photos for my photo challenge, this one was too good to resist.
Isaac has been a bit sick today. His nose is running, his face is all splotchy. He has diarrhea and he won't eat, and then what he did eat for dinner tonight he threw up on his high chair!
Every 10 minutes I think he is dying of some awful disease, because that's the fear the media put into us these days. I hate giving out Pamol (baby medicine)... It's not going to cure him, it'll just make him feel better, but I want to know if he's sick; I don't want to cover his symptoms up. He's only had it once before when he was teething really badly and me and hubby really needed some sleep!
Going to the doctor always seems to be a waste of time; $15 + petrol + the inconvenience of going out. But can you put a price on piece of mind?
But just to put all your minds at rest, I am keeping a very close eye on him, and I'll see how he is tomorrow, we may go to the doctors.
Sometimes, as a mother, it's so hard to know what to do. In fact, it's ALWAYS hard to know what to do. And I don't imagine it every gets easier, even when they're 29.

Day 7 Photo - Concentration

I managed to photograph this concentration from Isaac, it wasn't as extreme as I was hoping for, but it'll do for today. I loved that the bead was in his hand, and his little finger was sticking out, so cute!
I went to the garage today; my car has been producing strange burning smells. Turns out that I'd driven over some plastic palette wrapping, and it had melted itself onto my exhaust! Felt like a bit of a twit, if I'd looked under the car I would have seen it *oopsy daisy again*
So they charged me $20 to clean and scrape it off, which wasn't too bad I suppose; it could have been worse.
Come to think of it, I did park on top of some plastic stuff yesterday at the airport. It's one of those things you don't think about at the time, but looking back thru my memory banks I do recall seeing it.

Day 6 Photo - Emotions and stuff

So it turns out that for this "Photo a day" group, each week has a theme... oopsy daisy!
Last week the theme was WINTER. And this weeks theme is EMOTIONS.
Most of my pictures last week could squeeze into a WINTERY theme (gumboots, hot apple pie, playing inside, and hanging nappies inside). But I'm going to find emotions harder, because, although this is started thru a Mums Forum, I don't want it to be all toddler photos! And anyway, Isaac mostly only has happy or sad, he doesn't have angry or confused very often... And what are the chances I have the camera out for the split second he does!
I thought that "Tired" could be to days emotion.
I went into Isaac's room to disturb him after 20mins of being asleep, it's supposed to help them sleep longer, kinda reset their sleep cycle apparently. Anyway, this photo captures how he was sleeping. He had turned 180degrees, wrangled out of his sleeping bag/sack, and I didn't have his trousers on him because he spilt water all over them and they were drying off, good thing he had his long socks on.
You'll be pleased to know that I did move him back into his cot and put a blanket over him.

Monday, July 5, 2010

Day 5 Photo - Cloth Nappies

Today's photo WAS going to be of my hot chocolate topped with cream, but it turns out it wasn't very photogenic. So, instead it's of Isaac's Honey Child cloth nappies hanging up to dry.
I LOVE cloth nappies, except when the poo gets all over the nappy. I use liners to prevent this, but I think because Isaac is so much more active now, the liners tend to move out of the way. But this is only a problem when the poo is... ah... well, when it's not a nice solid one.
I think it's relaxing hanging them up in my OCD fashion and then folding them all when they are dry.
I would recommend cloth nappies to anyone if they are thinking of using them.

Day 4 Photo - Cheap Fun

This is one of Isaac's favourite games. Put the milk bottle lids in the yoghurt container. It's a really cheap game! It's also very messy and he mostly likes to finish the game with the lids NOT in the yoghurt pottle.

Cold but Sunny day in Auckland

It's only day 3 in my photo challenge, and already I've lost a little bit of enthusiasm. It seemed like more of a chore today, and this should be fun and exciting. I think I'll need to plan ahead a bit better and write a weekly list of what I want to photograph based on what I've done that day and really use my creative streak.
One of my Facebook friends suggested that I photograph Isaac's feet, or things around his feet and where they've been (since I started with gumboots). I liked that idea, but at the same time I don't want it to be based on Isaac. Maybe I could do August based on Isaac? Or perhaps do a Steph photo a day, AND an Isaac photo a day?
So for July I'll photograph something me or Isaac have done during the day that I can be creative with, as I'm no photographer, but would like to get better at it.
Anyhoo, the Big Ben Apple Pie was YUMMY! And my hubby makes the best whipped cream, with far too much icing sugar added DELICIOUS!

Friday Five - Take One

As part of my July - Photo A Day challenge, every Friday is Friday Five, there are five specific things I have to photograph. Today is
1. A Self Photo
2. Your Favourite Place
3. Your Favourite Colour
4. Your Favourite Item of clothing
5. Your Favourite Household Appliance

My Fave place is Bastion Point in Mission Bay. So I was going to Mission Bay anyway to meet some OhBaby Mums for coffee, so I went to Bastion Point afterwards. Isaac had a blast! He loved running/walking/crawling around the grass and he LAUGHED his head off when I carried him down the steps, bouncing. It was so cute.

July - A photo a day challenge

So, Today I have joined a group... I belong to a web forum "OhBaby" which is mostly mums with kids, and there is a thread on there about starting a Facebook group "July - A photo a day". So I joined it with great motivation.
My husband has a beautiful camera (photographed above with my crappy camera, also pictured). So I thought it would be a good opportunity to use it.
But now, I am thinking it's going to be harder than I thought. I can't even update this blog, let alone take a photo a day and upload it daily!
I've decided to post my photo a day on my blog as well for the month of July.
So my first picture for July, there is a story behind this photo too, which is always great. I went to Marshalls Farm near Tauranga (aka Marshmellows Farm), and Isaac had nice white fabric shoes on, they got poo and dirt all over them. So I made it my mission yesterday to buy Isaac gumboots. I found some plain boring black ones at The Warehouse for $13. Then this morning I go into the shed, and sitting there, in the middle of the shed is a pair of cool blue gumboots! My darling husband didn't tell me there was a pair there (He'd been given a box of outdoor toys etc about 6 weeks ago). He goes in the shed EVERY DAY! I dug the barcode tags out the rubbish bit and returned the warehouse gumboots today. Talk about a mission alright!
So here is the first photo:

Hurt babies beyond our control

Last night my husband and I got to go out to the movies while the mother-in-law babysat for us. She had our beloved son for the night and for most of today.
It was great to get a sleep in and just do nothing. We went out for lunch and just did what we wanted with no restrictions!
Turns out that while he was there he burnt his little hand. It wasn't until we got home with him that I noticed a blister on the palm of his hand.
Then when hubby was putting him to bed, we found 2 more blisters on his little finger, and they were just as bad as the one on the palm of his hand. Poor wee man.
So today I got a taste of what it feels like when your baby gets hurt, when they shouldn't have, and I wasn't there for him, and he could be scarred for life!

Mothers Day Present

Tonight, after a busy day out shopping and 1hrs hardwork at work, I went and had my legs waxed, which is never plesant, followed by the best facial ever!
I have only ever had 1 facial and that was for before my wedding (6 years ago).
She had a bed made up, and I got to lie in it, with the electric blanket on, it was just gorgeous! The beautician goes to my chrurch, and I think she spoils me a bit :) Even if she doesn't, I always feel so special when I go to see her, even if it is mostly for leg torture.
Today I also resisted the temptation to eat chocolate biscuits, my husband had 3 left over biscuits from a meeting this morning (one mallowpuff, 2 tim tams), and I nearly ate one just as an automatic reaction. And then I had to sit and stare them in the face for an hour! I do feel like having something sweet now!

Grocery Shopping

Friday's is my big grocery shop day. The Mother-in-law comes over in the afternoon and baby sits for me while I go out for an hour or so and get my shopping. It's one of the best hours of the week for me, I get to leave the house and be baby-free!
I got a New World flyer this week, but none from Countdown or Foodtown, which annoys me because I always look thru them and find where the best buys are. I am prepared to drive to 2 stores to get the best bargains.
I popped into Countdown first and did the majority of my shopping at New World. Somehow, I managed to spend $70 at countdown, and I only planned on spending about $25. oopsy. But they had meat on special and reduced. I love looking for reduced meat, I always feel like I got a bargain. And I still spent about $130 at New World. How come groceries are so expensive?!
In reality, I won't need to shop next week and a lot of the stuff will last for ages, and is just to stock up my freezer. I have a standup freezer and it always has to be FULL or I feel like we have no food, and my pantry is always packed to the top with tins and full Tupperware.

13 months on

Well, Today my son turned 13months old. And to celebrate the occassion I would have loved to have had some chocolate or icecream! But NO, I'm not allowed. And if i treat myself to chocolate everytime he's another month older, I'll keep getting another kilo fatter every month!
So instead, my clever boy decided to fall over and bite his lip! OUCHY! and OH THE BLOOD! At first it freaked me out, all the blood on his lip and mouth, running slowly down his chin. I couldnt pick him up as a loving mother would have, or I would have got blood all over my clothes! GROSS. So I had to comfort him by picking him up and holding him away from at arms length until I found the tissues.
We didn't go for walk today, I just couldn't be bothered. I wish it weren't so hilly in Auckland. I have been trying to think of somewhere flatter that I can drive to, to go for a walk. It does seem silly and weird to me to drive somewhere to walk, but if it means i get a longer easier walk, I'll do it!
What about Mission Bay, around the beaches? It's far, but maybe I could go in the weekend with both my boys.

The Working Mum

Today is the day I go to work at my husbands work doing graphics work. They are pretty disorganised and I usually only work half a day. Which is fine by me. I enjoy having a day off from being Mum, I drop baby at Nan's and then go into work. And after work I sometimes pop into St Lukes (it's just around the corner from work). Today I bought some rash cream for baby, it's nice to have a spare one in his nappy bag for when we go out, or he spends the day at Nan's. There's nothing worse than getting his nappy off and realising the nappy cream is in the bag at the other end of the house! Problem solved today! And just as well, as he has some pretty bad rash today.

Slow Cooker Heaven

So today, Tuesdays, I am usually at a church study, but this term it is 9.30am-12noon, which is a long time with a kid. I have to leave at 9am and don't get home til 12.30pm. It makes the whole day a pain, especially when baby sleeps 9.30-10 and then from 12noon-2. It just stuffs his whole day up and I end up stressing about how my Tuesday afternoon is going to go. So I have given it up today for the rest of the term. Which left me free this morning.
I put the slow cooker on with a chicken for dinner, technically I have been cooking dinner all day long. It smells so yummy thru the kitchen/dining area.
And I was able to make some pear & banana muffins for baby too.
I should also mention that today I gave up Farmville & Social City on Facebook. I feel so much better for it, it's great not being tied down to it and having to 'harvest' things before they expire. It's like a weight has lifted. It will be interesting to see if I can stay away from them. Instead of farming I got to play Wii Fit while baby slept, I did 44mins of yoga, balance and aerobic activities! And then I topped it off this afternoon with a walk to the chemist & Foodtown in my new pram.

Sleep In

So this morning, I just COULD NOT get out of bed. I was drifting in and out of sleep from 6am-9.30am and i knew hubby had gotten up and sorted out the baby, so I just kept lying in bed. Then at 9.30am hubby comes in and tells me his dad & family are coming over in 30mins! So up I got and ready.
You should understand something: Hubby is much like his dad, 5mins is actually 30mins, 30mins is actually 3hrs.
They did show up at about 10.30am, which wasn't too bad really. Then hubby & his dad decided to go and visit 'Norman' and then bring back lunch, that 30min trip was actually 3hrs! So I was left home to babysit the kids (well, the step-mum was here too). But on the bright side, I did get to play a bit of Wii Mario Kart, so that was actually pretty fun.
In the afternoon, between the rain, I decided to take my brand-spanking-new pram for a walk to my mums. It was the least I could do since I had Pizza for lunch, and I need to drop more than a few kilos. Anyway, I LOVE the pram, so nice and smooth compared to the other rubbish I've been handed down (That hasn't been looked after).
I can't wait to take it out again, I just hope this rain subsides, although that's doubtful since Winter has only just started.

Boys Day Out

So this afternoon, my husband took our son to his Nana's. I stayed home and was going to rest, or do some blogging, internet surfing, just take it easy. But I ended up vacuuming, moping (I NEVER mop) and rearranged a few things. It was nice though to get stuck into cleaning and not have to stop to entertain a toddler. Sometimes it's hard to remember what life was like without him, but today gave me a flashback of life over a year ago and it was very nice to have a few hours alone. And as useless as husbands can be, this was a very nice thing for him to do for me.
So I did eventually sit down and relax with a glass of wine for dinner.

My First Entry

Well, today, tonight actually, My friend convinced me to start up a blog... so here I am. Welcome.
Tonight, my friend, N & I decided to quit chocolate til 1 Sept! I just finished off the last block in the house tonight luckily. It was delicious.
I have just decided to extend this to icecream as well.
N also tells me that if you eat choc you are more likely to conceive a boy, and my next baby WILL be a girl, so i've quit chocolate til I get a girl.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'm working on making this blog prettier.
